Selamat Hari Raya!
09 Sep 2010 • 8 comments

Tomorrow, we will be celebrating Eid. So, I would like to take this opportunity (to create the graphic above) and to wish Happy Eid to everyone! Apologize for all the wrong doings I’ve done and all the bad words I’ve used either in this blog, on Twitter or/and in real life. Have fun!

Fourth week
21 Aug 2010 • 8 comments

It is the fourth week since the new semester began. It is my final semester in UTP. Final year final semester student in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. Wow. By right, by the end of this year, I should be able to get out there and work as a real engineer in a real company. That thought kinda scare me a bit. To take that road or not – that’s another concern. In fact, I’ve been having a serious mental complication just to think about that. Seriously guys, it is not an easy decision to make.
Having no option at all is pretty bad, but having many options are not that good either. And when it comes to future matter, where you might want to consider other “things” other than just your self – that’s tougher. I’ll keep the details to myself for now.

Ah. Just leave it for later thought. I’ve been focusing on the Final Year Project (FYP) for this semester. Lots of things to be explored. But it is all good. Self-exploration is what I do best. I constantly challenging myself to learn something new through self-exploration. There is no better way than trying to do things on our own – and learn from the mistakes and problems we encountered along the way. Oh by the way, I’m not going to explain the details of my FYP, until everything is completed. Plus, it is not super awesome or anything. It might bores you to death.
Anyhow, everything is pretty normal. Well, at least normal for my liking – which involves working and sitting in front of this computer almost all the time. I haven’t been going out that much – Najwa is pretty upset about that, definitely. Haha

Icon attempt #2
15 Aug 2010 • 7 comments

After I posted the first icon attempt, I spent more time working on improving them and add few others. But since I’ve been pretty busy, I stopped adding more icons. So here are some of the ‘working’ ones. The USB icon on the second picture is not even completed. It is quite difficult to get the perspective thing right.
I would love to try designing more icons when I have the time.

The new Gmail interface is cleaner. The only thing I don’t really like is the dropdown selection. I always use the “Unread” selection to set some emails to read. This new revision apparently added an extra step to access the selection, which is not a good idea, in my opinion.

Application User Interface attempt
07 Aug 2010 • 8 comments

This is what I have been working on for the past few hours. It started with a typical visual practice in Fireworks. Apparently, I got attached and decided to do more – something like a desktop application.
I’m not sure this kind of interface is feasible in terms of practicality of a desktop app. I just lay it out rather briefly. It was fun. Some of the icons are custom made, and some are taken from free sets, since I got tired already. Now, anybody would like to code this graphic into a working application?
Update: Posted this on Forrst!

It is fun working with these small pixels stuff – in 400% zoom level. Now I really need to start wearing contact lenses again.

Icon attempt

This is the outcome of my boredom for the past couple of hours. It was fun. Icon metaphor is very difficult, though. Respect to all icon designers out there. Super creative. Will try to come out with more icons. It is always exciting to try something new.
