Web Trend Map 4

I spent some time last weekend to actually sit down and learn about HTML5 localStorage feature. It is a pretty nifty feature that allows us to store data locally, without the need to have a dedicated database. That was when TO.DO.TO is born.

TO.DO.TO is a simple to-do list web application, built based on this tutorial. Instead of just changing the look and the feel of the app, I also spent time to enhance it more – by adding sorting capability (based on the codebase from this tutorial), status change of each task ( active/inactive), extra note field and some other small stuff.

The development of this so called web app also helps me to improve my jQuery skill, because almost all parts of the app work with the power of jQuery. So it is a good practice for me. Finally, after months of procrastination, I managed to force myself to learn jQuery – and I’m getting the hang of it pretty quickly. It is not as tough as I thought.

So, go and try it out. Add some tasks, sort it up and down, and try restart your browser to see everything is still there.

It is not perfect, but I think it works. I’ll improve my code from time to time.

Last minute plan by Khailee to redesign the YouthAsia website. Spent one day with him finalizing the mockup and copywriting. Spent the next day coding the whole thing. Launched it in the evening. Go check it out. More stuff to be added into the site later.

3 weeks passed by since I started working. I no longer have the time to even post any random stuff on this blog. This is not good.

Anyway, 3 weeks. Wow, I barely feel anything. It has been an awesome experience working at YouthAsia – doing things I love to do. In addition to that, I’m surrounded by awesomely great people from various background – from Malaysia(duh!), Vietname, China, Germany to Lithuania and probably some other places as well. It is good to get along with them – at the office, or when we go out for lunch or dinner or even supper. The good thing is, I don’t even mind if I had to stay late at the office to finish some stuff. I don’t even feel like I am working at all. I feel like I’m at home doing things I like to do.  It is like I have two houses here.

I’m grateful that everything seems to be working out for me over here.

Goodbye 2010. I had fun. Welcome 2011.

I planned to write this earlier, but I was busy staying up with the geeks: Izuddin, Amirul and Wafiq, launching the new version of KreativeThemes. Yes, while everyone was having fun at the 2011 countdown party, we were busy tinkering with the codes, handling the migration and adding new content; from 8pm up to 7am the next morning. Epic.
